my first DIY project is up over at the Moodkids blog! so happy to be part of their creative team. can't wait to show you all the ideas i have in mind! so promise me to go to their site and see!!!
the big picture (above) on canvas is taken by my sweet friend Corinne Delis of Delis Photography. this is in our bedroom. my own canvasses on the right, and underneath my brand new row of cuties.
what you'll need:
basic 'stone' plant pots
ohhh those cute little plants!!
fun masking tape.
and:
- acrylic paint
- stamps & ink
- gesso
- gel medium (or mod podge / decoupage)
- scissor
what to do:
1. make sure you first put a lovely thick layer of gesso on your plant pots. if you do not, your acrylic paint will be sucked into your pots in a second. or the color just wont' be as bright as you thought it would be. so believe me. put. the. gesso. on. let dry :)
2. paint your favorite colors acrylic paint. i painted them twice. also a bit (the top edge) of the inside of the pot. i want cute pots. you need that too.
3. and now take out the good stuff! masking tape, fabric, felt, stamps, ink ohhhhh the works! and start decorating them like you feel to. if you are going to use fabric, you can glue that on with gel medium and a brush. something like this:
woeheeee great action shot huh? make sure you put the glue under AND OVER your fabric. yes. you do.
and this is also an amazing project to do with your kids. when they are finished i'll show you the artistic pots of my muppets. they are more perfectionists than i am. obviously (they really didn't see the point of rushing because mommy wanted to post this on her blog.... :)
this is my favorite. aqua blue with little white felt hearts.
greenish with a little 'embelisshment' from felt/fabric and a small punched butterfly out of cardstock. oops. you needed cardstock also. ha.
and this cute bird! yes, totally fabric and outlined with my oil pastels and distress markers. you can use any colored pen you'd like. it's not like these pots will stay here forever, right? right.
pom tie pom. by the way: i really hurt myself trying to buy this little cacti dude. Ruben was laughing his ass off. he was 'lucky' his leg is nog 100% otherwise it would be a total 'run for it dude!' in that store :)
Sanne is claiming this one. can't blame her. but it's in MY ROOM. she has to work for it.
o. my. goodness. the cuteness of it. i actually like them all. not sure if it's the colors, the small plants, or the fun i had working with these. love love love. and they are cheap. and fast. that's what we need. and chocolate ofcourse. and wine.
oohhh. love them. and don't you love my bed heading thingie? still adore this bed. the colors of our wall. and now my newbie plants. let's see how long they'll survive. but hey, i got cute pots anyway, who cares about those plants huh?
on the agenda today: half work, half play, fysiotherapist for Ruben with 'difficult' exercizes he dreads, and i really can't blame him. he's sooo done with it! but yesterday dad went swimming with him and he told me he was going like a mad man in that pool. ohhh we are getting our boy back in lightning speed.
life is good. let's make more stuff.
